The International Society of Minimally Invasive and Virtual Surgery (ISMIVS, previously known as International Society of Minimally Invasive and Noninvasive Medicine) was founded in July 2013 at the gala of the 1st Yangtze International Summit of Minimally Invasive and Noninvasive Medicine in Chongqing, China. ISMIVS envisions to accelerating the progress in minimally invasive and noninvasive medicine by promoting research, education, communication, and international collaboration.
国际微无创医学会(ISMIVS)是在 2013 年 7 月在中国重庆召开的第一届国际微无创医学长江高峰论坛上宣布成立的,旨在通过学术研究、教育、交流以及国际合作加快微无创医学的发展。

The Personality in the Medical Education World 医学教育界的大人物
From the 2020 July issue of our ISMIVS Newsletter, we would like to introduce some pioneers in the field of minimally-invasive and noninvasive medicine. They are not only prestigious in their field but also willing to share their experience and ideas with younger doctors, hence making a great contribution to medical education. This issue features Dr Chung Kuo-Teng from Taipei Chung Shan Hospital, who is a specialist in the field of gynecology and obstetrics.
从 2020 年 7 月刊开始,国际微无创医学会将为大家介绍微无创医学领域的一些领军人物。他们不仅在各自的领域享负盛名,而且非常乐意与年轻医生分享他们的经验、理念和想法,从而为医学教育做出了巨大的贡献。本期月刊要介绍的是台北中山医院的妇产科专家钟国腾医师。

Dr. Chung Kuo-Teng is currently the Chief Physician of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Chung Shan Hospital in Taipei and is also the head of HIFU Center. From 2014 to 2015, he studied as a visiting scholar at Northwestern University in Chicago, USA and successfully completed his training at the Women's Urology and Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery Center at Northwestern University Memorial Hospital.
钟国腾医师现任台北中山医院妇产科主任医师,也是中山医院海扶刀手术中心的负责人。他曾在 2014 年至 2015 年作为访问学者在美国芝加哥西北大学进行学习,并顺利完成了美国芝加哥西北大学纪念医院妇女泌尿及骨盆重建手术中心的培训。
He is an outstanding obstetrician and gynecologist with expertise in minimally and noninvasive gynecological surgeries such as high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU), natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (NOTES), laparoscopic surgery, and minimally invasive hysteroscopic surgery (hysteroscopic cold knife surgery), as well as in surgeries for urinary incontinence and pelvic reconstruction. He has cured many patients suffering from gynecological disorders such as uterine fibroids, adenomyosis, endometriosis, and so on.
Adhering to the philosophy of "treating patients with less harm", Dr. Chung has been actively involved in international conferences both online and offline, delivering keynote speeches on the topic of HIFU treatment in gynecological disorders, sharing his clinical experience and HIFU application in his center, and letting more medical professionals know about this emerging minimally invasive technology.
秉持着“治疗让病人受伤害更小”的理念,钟国腾医师线上线下积极参与国际学术会议,发表以 HIFU 治疗妇科疾病为主题的主旨演讲,分享其临床经验及其海扶刀中心的应用情况,让更多医学专业人士了解这一新兴的微无创技术。
Meanwhile, since 2020, he has served as the Secretary General of the Taiwan Academy of Gynecologic Tumor Ablation, leading the members to actively carry out academic activities, popularize gynecological knowledge, and guard women's health with kindness and benevolence.
同时,自 2020 年起,他担任台湾妇科肿瘤消融医学会秘书长,带领学会成员积极开展学术活动,普及妇科知识,用仁心仁术守护女性健康。

Minimally invasive therapy of adenomyosis - how to minimize harm to women and improve their life quality
“Strategies and Techniques for Minimally Invasive and Noninvasive Treatment of Adenomyosis", one section of The Fifth Yangtze International Summit of Minimally Invasive and Noninvasive Medicine & 2023 "One Belt One Road" Innovation Forum on Minimally Invasive and Noninvasive Medicine has been successfully held on July, 9th.
7 月 9 日,“第五届国际微无创医学长江高峰论坛暨 2023‘一带一路’微无创医学创新论坛”分论坛“子宫腺肌症的微无创治疗策略及技巧”圆满举行。
This section was cochaired by Oliver Cruz, president of the Mexican Association of Gynecological Endoscopy and Microsurgery, Lin Hanmei, director of the Department of gynecology of the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Fan Xiaobin, director of the Department of gynecology and obstetrics of Xi'an Third Hospital, Liu Xunjiao, director of the department of women's health, Sun Xin, deputy director of the department of gynecology of the Third Xiangya Hospital of Central South University, Aizura Adlan of the University of Malaysia. Centering on the theme of the section, six experts shared their brilliant lectures. They had discussions on minimally invasive therapy of adenomyosis, which should be able to cure the illness and improve life quality while at the same time minimising harm to patients.
本分论坛由墨西哥妇科内镜和显微外科协会主席Oliver Cruz、广西中医药大学第一附属医院妇科主任林寒梅、西安市第三医院妇产科主任范小斌、妇女保健部部长刘勋娇、中南大学湘雅三医院妇科副主任孙信、马来西亚大学 Aizura Adlan 等人共同担任主持。共计 6 位专家围绕“子宫腺肌症的微无创治疗策略及技巧”进行精彩授课分享,共同探讨子宫腺肌病患者的微无创治疗方案,在治疗疾病,提升患者生活质量的同时,更好的减少对女性的伤害。

Sevellaraja Supermaniam, consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist, director of IVF Center and HIFU Center of Mahkota Medical Centre (Malaysia), shared a lecture themed “Infertility with adenomyosis - How can HIFU help?”. HIFU therapy causes minimal harm to the uterus and plays a key role in protecting fertility. It would be a good choice for patients with infertility caused by adenomyosis.
马来西亚马六甲仁爱医院妇产科顾问医生、IVF 中心和 HIFU 中心主任 Sevellaraja Supermaniam 分享“高强度聚焦超声如何帮助子宫腺肌不孕症的患者?”的专题讲座。HIFU 治疗对子宫的伤害较小,对生育力保护起到了关键性作用,是子宫腺肌不孕症患者的一种较好的选择。

Fu Chun, director of the Department of Gynecology, Xiangya Second Hospital, Central South University, gave a course on the whole course management model of focused ultrasound ablation for Adenomyosis. The course of adenomyosis is progressive, and hysterectomy is the only radical treatment at present. For patients with adenomyosis, HIFU is a new and safe therapy that helps to avoid uterine surgery or hysterectomy, and personalized comprehensive management is required after receiving the treatment.
中南大学湘雅二医院妇科主任符淳分享“聚焦超声消融治疗子宫腺肌病全病程管理模式”的专题讲座。子宫腺肌病病程呈渐进性加重,子宫切除是目前唯一的根治性手段。HIFU 是一种新型安全治疗子宫腺肌病避免子宫手术或切除的方法,治疗后需要个体化全病程管理。

Pu Yuanfang, chief physician of People's Hospital of Nanchuan District, Chongqing discussed on clinical study on focused ultrasound ablation combined with thermal balloon endometrial ablation in the treatment of endogenous adenomyosis. The combined therapy is considered to be clinically effective and overall safe. Continuous exploration should be made to find out new clinical options that can save the uterus, alleviate symptoms, improve life quality and reduce recurrence for patients with endogenous adenomyosis.

Peng Yan, director, and chief physician of the HIFU Center of Shenzhen Maternal and Child Health Hospital shared a lecture on treatment strategies after the failure of conservative treatment for adenomyosis. Comprehensive therapy centred around HIFU can maximize efficacy and minimize harm through minimally invasive treatment. Comprehensive HIFU therapy could be adopted after the failure of conservative treatment for adenomyosis to control clinical symptoms effectively. For recurrence after comprehensive HIFU therapy, repeatable treatment could be applied to control clinical symptoms and reduce hysterectomy rates.

Liang Dong, deputy director/chief physician of the Department of Internal Gynecology, Foshan First People's Hospital, lectured on “Comprehensive treatment for patients with adenomyosis with fertility needs”. Endometriosis is a complex syndrome characterized by estrogen-dependent chronic inflammatory processes. Comprehensive treatment for patients with adenomyosis must be precise and personalized. Reasonable selection of focused ultrasound ablation pretreatment for adenomyosis patients with fertility needs can bring more benefits.

Guo Tao, chief physician of West China Second Hospital of Sichuan University, shared his opinions on “HIFU in the treatment of endometriosis and adenomyosis”. HIFU therapy has many advantages in the treatment of adenomyosis and endometriosis, but there are also some shortcomings including long existence and slow absorption of lesions after the treatment, treatment dosage and intensity depending on the physician’s experience, intimal and serosa damage caused by excessive energy, posing certain requirements for doctors.
四川大学华西第二医院主任医师郭涛分享“HIFU 在子宫内膜异位症及子宫腺肌症治疗中的应用”的专题讲座。子宫腺肌病和子宫内膜异位症的 HIFU 治疗有诸多优势,但存在不足之处,治疗后病灶仍长期存在,术后缓慢吸收缩小,治疗总剂量及强度把握根据医生经验,能量过量引起内膜及浆膜损伤等,对医生有一定要求。

HIFU Special Issue 高强度聚焦超声特刊

We are delighted to announce that the International Journal of Hyperthermia, the HIFU Special Issue (i.e. Volume 38, 2021), which was partially supported by ISMIVS, was officially released in September. The Special Issue includes 15 articles written and reviewed by world-renowned scholars and pioneers in minimally invasive and noninvasive medicine, elaborating on the status and prospects of the clinical applications of high intensity focused ultrasound on tumours that occurred in specific organs. We'll share the 15 articles included in the upcoming newsletters, stay tuned!
The comparison of myomectomy, UAE and MRgFUS in the treatment of uterine fibroids: a meta-analysis

This article is to compare the re-intervention rates of myomectomy, uterine artery embolization (UAE) and magnetic resonance-guided focused ultrasound surgery (MRgFUS) for uterine fibroids (UFs) in different follow-up times.
本文旨在比较不同随访时间子宫肌瘤切除术、子宫动脉栓塞术( UAE )和磁共振引导聚焦超声手术( MRgFUS )治疗子宫肌瘤( UFs )的再干预率。
The two investigators searched PubMed for clinical studies published in English from 1 Jan 2000 to 31 Dec 2020, and independently examined the paper to select qualified studies, extracted relevant information and assessed the risk of bias.
两名研究者检索了 PubMed 2000 年 1 月 1 日至 2020 年 12 月 31 日期间以英文发表的临床研究,并独立审查了论文,选择合格的研究,提取相关信息并评估偏倚风险。
The outcome shows that the myomectomy has the lowest re-intervention rate of the three regimens in a short time and long time while the MRgFUS has the highest. The rate of MRgFUS increased rapidly in the 60th month after the treatment.
结果显示,三种方案中短期和长期的再干预率中,子宫肌瘤剔除术最低,而 MRgFUS 最高。治疗后第 60 个月MRgFUS 发生率迅速增加。

Efficacy, safety and outcomes of the laparoscopic management of cesarean scar ectopic pregnancy as a single therapeutic approach: a case series

This is a retrospective bi-centric study (case series) performed between December 2019 and January 2023 in the Departments of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the two hospitals in Belgium.
从 2019 年 12 月至 2023 年 1 月,在比利时两家医院的妇产科进行了一项双中心的回顾性研究(病例系列)。
Eight patients with a future desire to conceive underwent the laparoscopic treatment of unruptured CSPs. Each patient’s data was collected, including gestity, parity, number of previous c-sections, pre-pregnancy isthmocele-related symptoms, etc. The CSP was successfully removed in all patients by laparoscopy.

Their study findings suggest that laparoscopic management seems to be an appropriate fertility-preserving approach for the treatment of CSP when performed by skilled laparoscopic surgeons. It can be safely proposed as a single and effective therapeutic approach without being combined with any other strategy or vascular pretreatment.
